Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1992Abstract The synthesis of O-(4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl)serine has been accomplished by treatment of an FMOC-aziridinecarboxylate with nitroveratryl alcohol followed by hydrolysis. Irradiation with a Pyrex-filtered 450W Hanovia lamp releases serine with a half-life of 4.4 min. o-Nitrobenzyl serinate is prepared by direct esterification.

Refolding of serine proteinases
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 1986AbstractBovine trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen were successfully refolded as the mixed disulfide of glutathione using cysteine as the disulfide interchange catalyst. The native structures were regenerated with yields of 40%–50% at pH 8.6 and 4 °C, and the half‐time for the refolding was approximately 60–75 min.
