The Role of Viscoelasticity in Heterogeneous Glioblastoma Stem Cell Invasion in Biomimetic 3‐Dimensional Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The role of viscoelasticity in the invasion of heterogeneous glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) was investigated with GSCs categorized into subgroups based on molecular profile, as Reactive, Invasive, or Constructive using viscoelastic biomimetic hyaluronan‐oxime hydrogels.

A trypsin-like serine protease is involved in pseudorabies virus invasion through the basement membrane barrier of porcine nasal respiratory mucosa

open access: yesVeterinary Research, 2011
Several alphaherpesviruses breach the basement membrane during mucosal invasion. In the present study, the role of proteases in this process was examined.

Disrupted TFEB/GDNF–cAMP/ATP Coupling Underlies Astrocytic Dysfunction and Depression in LRRK2 G2019S Parkinson's Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The LRRK2 G2019S mutation, a Parkinson's disease–linked variant, has been associated with depression‐like phenotypes, but mechanisms remain unclear. We chart age‐dependent behavioral changes and astrocyte reactivity in G2019S mice and define a pathway connecting LRRK2 to TFEB/GDNF signaling, cellular energetics, and inflammation.

Heterocyclic Inhibitors Of Serine Proteases

open access: yes, 1992
This invention relates to a novel class of heterocyclic compounds useful for selectively inhibiting elastase, selectively inhibiting chymotrypsin-like enzymes, selectively inhibiting trypsin-like enzymes, or for generally inhibiting serine proteases of ...

Understanding serine proteases implications on Leishmania spp lifecycle

open access: yes, 2018
Serine proteases have significant functions over a broad range of relevant biological processes to the Leishmania spp lifecycle. Data gathered here present an update on the Leishmania spp serine proteases and the status of these enzymes as part of the ...

Molecular Editing Reveals a Bilobalide Chemotype that Attenuates Prolyl Endopeptidase (PREP)‐Linked Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular editing of bilobalide uncovers BB56, a PREP‐engaging chemotype with enhanced anti‐inflammatory activity in microglia. Integrated CETSA‐MS, SAR, and pathway analyses link BB56 to attenuation of p38 MAPK/NF‐κB and NLRP3‐associated inflammatory signaling, highlighting bilobalide editing as a strategy for developing neuroinflammation‐modulating ...

Production and cleavage specificity determination of serine proteases mMCP-4, mMCP-5, rMCP-2 and two platypus serine proteases of the chymase locus.

open access: yes, 2013
Serine proteases are a family of enzymes with a wide array of functions across both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Here we have attempted to produce the serine proteases rat mast cell protease 2 and mouse mast cell protease 5 in a culture of HEK 293 cells ...

Early Retinal UCHL1 Dysregulation Coupled With Synaptic Loss Reflects Alzheimer's Disease Severity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies synapse‐enriched deubiquitinase UCHL1 as an early Aβ‐responsive regulator of retinal synaptopathy in Alzheimer's disease. Retinal UCHL1 loss accompanies excitatory synapse degeneration, p75NTR activation, and neuroinflammation, and predicts Braak stage and cognitive decline. Aβ42 fibrils trigger synaptic and UCHL1 depletion before
