AAVR Expression is Essential for AAV Vector Transduction in Sensory Hair Cells
Decreased sensitivity to AAV vector transduction in the outer hair cells (OHCs) of adult mice is primarily attributed to reduction of AAVR (Kiaa0319l; Au040320). Knockout of AAVR reduces AAV vector transduction efficiency in both inner hair cells (IHCs) and OHCs in neonatal mice.

Salmonella is the leading cause of death associated with foodborne illnesses in the USA. Difficulty in treating human salmonellosis is attributed to the development of antimicrobial resistance and the pathogenicity of Salmonella strains. Therefore, it is

GeoDEN: A Visual Exploration Tool for Analysing the Geographic Spread of Dengue Serotypes [PDF]
Static maps and animations remain popular in spatial epidemiology of dengue, limiting the analytical depth and scope of visualisations. Over half of the global population live in dengue endemic regions. Understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of the four closely related dengue serotypes, and their immunological interactions, remains a challenge at a ...

Wei et al. establish a hair cell‐specific conditional knockout mouse model (Atp6v1b2fl/fl;Atoh1Cre/+), and demonstrate the importance of Atp6v1b2 for hair cell through maintaining the survival of lysosomes. A single administration of AAV‐ie‐Eh3‐mAtp6v1b2 through scala media at P0‐P2 realizes function compensation and restores hearing and balance ...

Invasive Pneumococcal Disease in Adults in Portugal: The Importance of Serotypes 8 and 3 (2015–2018)
Increasing the uptake of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) in children is expected to alter the serotypes causing invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) in adults due to herd protection.

Selective and Genetic Constraints on Pneumococcal Serotype Switching
Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates typically express one of over 90 immunologically distinguishable polysaccharide capsules (serotypes), which can be classified into "serogroups" based on cross-reactivity with certain antibodies.
