Whole genome sequencing of Streptococcus pneumoniae: development, evaluation and verification of targets for serogroup and serotype prediction using an automated pipeline

open access: yesPeerJ, 2016
Streptococcus pneumoniae typically express one of 92 serologically distinct capsule polysaccharide (cps) types (serotypes). Some of these serotypes are closely related to each other; using the commercially available typing antisera, these are assigned to

Serotypes of Candida albicans [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1965
THE classification of Candida albicans into two serological groups on the basis of agglutination tests was first reported by Hasenclever and Mitchell1, and both in the original and subsequent papers2–4 these authors and their colleagues referred to group A and group B strains.

Serotyping of Vibrio anguillarum [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1986
A serotyping scheme based on the detection of O antigens by slide agglutination in fish-pathogenic strains of Vibrio anguillarum is presented. Over a period of 5 years 270 Vibrio strains from feral and cultured fish, 189 strains from the environment, and 36 strains from invertebrates were collected.

Adeno‐associated virus serotype 2 capsid variants for improved liver‐directed gene therapy

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Current liver‐directed gene therapies look for adeno‐associated virus (AAV) vectors with improved efficacy. With this background, capsid engineering is explored. Whereas shuffled capsid library screenings have resulted in potent liver targeting variants with one first vector in human clinical trials, modifying natural ...

Characterization of Serotype CD Mosaic Botulinum Neurotoxin in Comparison with Serotype C and A

open access: yesToxins, 2023
Botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT), produced by Clostridium botulinum, cleaves proteins involved in neurotransmitter release, thereby triggering flaccid paralyses, which are responsible for botulism. BoNT is classified into seven serotypes (BoNT/A-G); BoNT/A and BoNT/B are used as medical therapeutics and anti-wrinkle reagents.

Dengue Serotype-Specific Differences in Clinical Manifestation, Laboratory Parameters and Risk of Severe Disease in Adults, Singapore

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2015
Studies on serotype-specific features of dengue and disease severity on adults are limited. We prospectively recruited adult febrile patients without alternate diagnosis to dengue from April 2005 to December 2011.

Serotype IX, a Proposed New Streptococcus agalactiae Serotype [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2007
ABSTRACT We identified three isolates of Streptococcus agalactiae (group B streptococcus [GBS]), of human origin, which failed to react with antisera against any of the nine known GBS serotypes. Polyclonal rabbit antisera raised against these isolates and standard GBS typing sera were used in capillary ...
