VP7 Serotype-specific Glycoprotein of OSU Porcine Rotavirus: Coding Assignment and Gene Sequence

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1986
With a reassortant from a cross of human rotavirus DS-1 (serotype 2) and OSU (serotype 5) it was determined that the OSU major neutralization glycoprotein antigen (VP7) was encoded by gene segment 9. A full-sized cloned cDNA copy of the OSU gene 9 was produced and sequenced.

Adeno-associated viral vector serotype 5 poorly transduces liver in rat models.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Preclinical studies in mice and non-human primates showed that AAV serotype 5 provides efficient liver transduction and as such seems a promising vector for liver directed gene therapy. An advantage of AAV5 compared to serotype 8 already shown to provide

Bacterial artificial chromosome-based reverse genetics system for cloning and manipulation of the full-length genome of infectious bronchitis virus

open access: yesCurrent Research in Microbial Sciences, 2022
Avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) causes highly contagious respiratory reproductive and renal system diseases in chickens, and emergence of serotypic variants resulting from mutations in the viral S gene hampers vaccine management for IBV infection.

Variation at the capsule locus, cps, of mistyped and non-typable Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The capsule polysaccharide locus (cps) is the site of the capsule biosynthesis gene cluster in encapsulated Streptococcus pneumoniae. A set of pneumococcal samples and non-pneumococcal streptococci from Denmark, the Gambia, the Netherlands, Thailand, the

Differential Myocardial Gene Delivery by Recombinant Serotype-Specific Adeno-associated Viral Vectors

open access: yesMolecular Therapy, 2004
AbstractRecombinant cross-packaging of adeno-associated virus (AAV) genome of one serotype into other AAV serotypes has the potential to optimize tissue-specific gene transduction and expression in the heart. To evaluate the role of AAV1 to 5 virion shells on AAV2 transgene transduction, we constructed hybrid vectors in which each serotype capsid ...

Regulatory gene mutation: a driving force behind group a Streptococcus strain‐ and serotype‐specific variation [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, 2016
SummaryData from multiple bacterial pathogens are consistent with regulator‐encoding genes having higher mutation frequencies than the genome average. Such mutations drive both strain‐ and type‐ (e.g., serotype, haplotype) specific phenotypic heterogeneity, and may challenge public health due to the potential of variants to circumvent established ...

Genomic Characterization of Streptococcus suis Serotype 24 Clonal Complex 221/234 From Human Patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Streptococcus suis is a zoonotic pathogen that causes invasive infections in humans and pigs. Although S. suis serotype 2 is prevalent among patient and swine infections, other serotypes are occasionally detected in humans.

A MOLECULAR AND COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TYPE-ABLE AND NON-TYPE-ABLE HAEMOPHILUS INFLUENZAE ISOLATED FROM DIFFERENT CLINICAL SAMPLES IN HILLA, IRAQ.

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Background:H. influenzae bacteria classified as type-able and non-type-able according to the presence or absence of capsule which is correlated with site of isolation. Objectives:To isolate H. influenzae from different clinical samples and differentiate

Genotypic Characterization of Non-O157 Shiga Toxin–Producing Escherichia coli in Beef Abattoirs of Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) contamination in carcasses and feces of 811 bovines in nine beef abattoirs from Argentina was analyzed during a period of 17 months.

Genetic modification of Bluetongue virus by uptake of "synthetic" genome segments

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2010
Since 1998, several serotypes of Bluetongue virus (BTV) have invaded several southern European countries. In 2006, the unknown BTV serotype 8 (BTV8/net06) unexpectedly invaded North-West Europe and has resulted in the largest BT-outbreak ever recorded ...
