Serotyping for homotransplantation V. Evaluation of a matching scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
An attempt was made to determine whether 36 long-term kidney homograft recipients and their donors were compatible for 7 major leukocyte groups. It was found that 21 of these recipients were surviving 2 to 3 years in spite of incompatibility for 1 or 2 ...

Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

SAA/FPR2 Signaling Between Pericentral Hepatocytes and Macrophages Exacerbates Zonated Liver Transplant Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After liver transplantation, ischemia‐reperfusion injury is more severe in pericentral regions. Multiomic analyses of human grafts and mouse models identify FOXO1 activation in pericentral hepatocytes as an upstream driver of SAA secretion. SAA recruits and activates FPR2+ macrophages, amplifying local inflammation. Amilo‐5MER inhibits SAA bioactivity,

Tumor‐Induced Splenic Remodeling: Mechanisms of Systemic Immunosuppression and Emerging Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the transformative impact of cancer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint blockade, durable clinical responses remain limited. Increasing evidence indicates that antitumor immunity is governed not only by the tumor microenvironment, but also by systemic immune regulation mediated by peripheral immune organs. Among these, the spleen

Multiresistant Salmonella enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:- in Europe: a new pandemic strain? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A marked increase in the prevalence of S. enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:- with resistance to ampicillin, streptomycin, sulphonamides and tetracyclines (R-type ASSuT) has been noted in food-borne infections and in pigs/pig meat in several European countries

Noninvasive Focal Gene Delivery into the Cerebellum of Non‐Human Primates using Focused Ultrasound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Focal and non‐invasive viral vector delivery in non‐human primates remains a major challenge in translational neuroscience. Low‐intensity focused ultrasound was used to transiently open the blood–brain barrier and enable targeted gene delivery to the cerebellum.

Genetic characterization of Mycobacterium avium isolates recovered from humans and animals in Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Genetic relationships amongst 115 mainly Australian isolates of Mycobacterium avium were assessed using multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MEE). The isolates were divided into 58 electrophoretic types (ETs), with a mean genetic diversity of 0·29 ...

Preparation, Component Identification, and Antioxidant Activity of Anthocyanins From Punica granatum “Tunisia”

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
The preparation for Tunisian pomegranate anthocyanin extract. The molecular mechanisms underlying the antioxidant effects of these compounds were investigated using network pharmacology and molecular docking. Antioxidant activity was evaluated through DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP assays, whereas the effects on oxidative stress and inflammation were examined in

Safety and Effectiveness of Sutimlimab in Cold Agglutinin Disease: A Real‐World International Experience

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sutimlimab is a monoclonal antibody against complement fraction C1s approved for the treatment of hemolytic anemia due to cold agglutinin disease (CAD). Here, we analyzed and report the largest international CAD cohort of sutimlimab‐treated patients ever reported to highlight its safety and effectiveness in the real‐world setting. We accrued a
