Systems Biology and Pangenome of Salmonella O-Antigens. [PDF]
O-antigens are glycopolymers in lipopolysaccharides expressed on the cell surface of Gram-negative bacteria. Variability in the O-antigen structure constitutes the basis for the establishment of the serotyping schema. We pursued a two-pronged approach to

Serotyping of Vibrio anguillarum [PDF]
A serotyping scheme based on the detection of O antigens by slide agglutination in fish-pathogenic strains of Vibrio anguillarum is presented. Over a period of 5 years 270 Vibrio strains from feral and cultured fish, 189 strains from the environment, and 36 strains from invertebrates were collected.

Death or survival from invasive pneumococcal disease in Scotland: associations with serogroups and multilocus sequence types [PDF]
We describe associations between death from invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) and particular serogroups and sequence types (STs) determined by multilocus sequence typing (MLST) using data from Scotland.

Should Pneumococcal Serotype 3 Be Included in Serotype-Specific Immunoassays? [PDF]
Since the introduction of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, a number of studies have demonstrated the limited efficacy of the pneumococcal serotype 3 component of this vaccine. Evidence from seven countries (Denmark, France, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, UK, US) shows limited or no effectiveness of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine ...

Serotyping dengue virus with isothermal amplification and a portable sequencer
The recent development of a nanopore-type portable DNA sequencer has changed the way we think about DNA sequencing. We can perform sequencing directly in the field, where we collect the samples. Here, we report the development of a novel method to detect

Serotypes of Candida albicans [PDF]
THE classification of Candida albicans into two serological groups on the basis of agglutination tests was first reported by Hasenclever and Mitchell1, and both in the original and subsequent papers2–4 these authors and their colleagues referred to group A and group B strains.
