Hydroxyurea-Loaded Albumin Nanoparticles: Preparation, Characterization, and In Vitro Studies

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2019
Human serum albumin nanoparticles (HSA-NPs) have been widely used as drug delivery systems. In most cases, HSA-NPs are formed by the method of desolvation in the presence of glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Serum albumin nanoparticles: Ligand functionalization for enhanced targeted therapeutics in precision medicine

open access: yesMedicine in Drug Discovery
Serum albumin-based nanoparticles, derived from bovine (BSA) and human (HSA) sources, have emerged as versatile carriers in drug delivery systems due to their intrinsic biocompatibility, biodegradability, and amenability to surface modification.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Non-covalent binding analysis of sulfamethoxazole to human serum albumin: Fluorescence spectroscopy, UV–vis, FT-IR, voltammetric and molecular modeling

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Analysis, 2015
This study was designed to examine the interaction of sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) with human serum albumin(HSA). Spectroscopic analysis of the emission quenching at different temperatures revealed that the quenching mechanism of human serum albumin by SMZ was

Binding of glycyrrhizin of human serum and human serum albumin.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1989
The binding of glycyrrhizin (GLZ) to human serum and human serum albumin (HSA) was examined by an ultrafiltration technique. Specific and nonspecific bindings were observed in both human serum and HSA. The association constants (K) for the specific bindings were very similar: 1.31 x 10(5) M-1 in human serum and 3.87 x 10(5) M-1 in HSA.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Electrophoretic Analysis of Blood Serum Proteins in Three Species of Water Snakes (Genus Nerodia) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Serum from three species of water snakes (Nerodia rhombifera, N. erythrogaster and N. fasciata) from one geographic region was analyzed electrophoretically on cellulose acetate, and anodic mobility and relative concentration of the fractions were ...
