Sesquiterpene lactones from Achillea crithmifolia

Phytochemistry, 1991
Abstract The isolation of guaianolides rupicolin-A, rupicolin-B, their acetates and a new germacranolide 1β,10α-epoxy-3β,9β-diacetoxy-11α,13-dihydrocostunolide, identified by means of PS DQF COSY and PS NOESY, from Achillea crithmifolia is reported. A flavonoid jaceidin was also isolated from the same extract.

Metabolism of antimalarial sesquiterpene lactones

Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1990
Metabolism of artemisinin derivatives, which are antimalarial sesquiterpenes, appeared to lead to the production of the more polar metabolites in general. Presence of the endoperoxide moiety in the A/B ring structure seems crucial for the expression of antimalarial activity of these compounds.

Sesquiterpene Lactones Revisited

1995
Sesquiterpene lactones are plant constituents often possessing a bitter taste which are common in most tribes of the Asteraceae (Compositae) and also are found in at least 14 other angiosperm families and to a limited extend in gymnosperms, liverworts and fungi.1 There are more than 4,000 known structures in this class of plant secondary metabolites ...

Sesquiterpene Lactones from Aegialophila pumila

Planta Medica, 1984
Cnicin was isolated as the major sesquiterpene lactone from Aegialophila pumila Jus. Boiss. The germacranolide salonitenolide was isolated as a minor constituent. Cnicin demonstrated pronounced cytotoxic activity when tested in vitro against TLX-5 mice lymphoma cells.

Sesquiterpene lactones of Centaurea scoparia

Phytochemistry, 1998
From the ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Centaurea scoparia four new sesquiterpene lactones, belonging to the guaiane class, were isolated and identified, together with a known germacranolide. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including one- and two-dimensional NMR studies.

Cytotoxic sesquiterpene lactones fromSaussurea calcicola

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2005
Seven sesquiterpene lactones were isolated by the chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract of the aerial parts of Saussurea calcicola (Compositae). Their structures were determined spectroscopically to be cynaropicrin (1), arguerin B (2), cebellin F (3), 8alpha-hydroxy-11alpha, 13-dihydrozaluzanin C (4), desacylcynaropicrin (5), 3beta-hydroxy ...

11,13-Methylenation of sesquiterpene exomethylene-γ-lactones: Synthesis of sesquiterpene cyclopropyl-γ-lactones

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1991
11,13-Methylene derivatives of sesquiterpene exomethylene-γ-lactones were prepared by reaction of diazomethane and photolysis of the resulting pyrazoline adduct(s). Variable amounts of exomethylene- and ethylidene-γ-lactones were also formed in the photolysis reaction.
