Sesquiterpene Lactones from Aegialophila pumila
Planta Medica, 1984Cnicin was isolated as the major sesquiterpene lactone from Aegialophila pumila Jus. Boiss. The germacranolide salonitenolide was isolated as a minor constituent. Cnicin demonstrated pronounced cytotoxic activity when tested in vitro against TLX-5 mice lymphoma cells.

Sesquiterpene lactones of Centaurea scoparia
Phytochemistry, 1998From the ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Centaurea scoparia four new sesquiterpene lactones, belonging to the guaiane class, were isolated and identified, together with a known germacranolide. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including one- and two-dimensional NMR studies.
