Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Species Distribution and Forest Type Mapping in Mexico

open access: yes, 2009
The study analyzed the potential of multi-temporal satellite remote sensing data (Terra-MODIS) for phenological studies in Mexico. Within two conceptually and methodologically independent approaches, we analyzed vegetation index data to continuously ...

Fractional Set Cover in the Streaming Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We study the Fractional Set Cover problem in the streaming model. That is, we consider the relaxation of the set cover problem over a universe of n elements and a collection of m sets, where each set can be picked fractionally, with a value in [0,1].

Semi-Streaming Set Cover

open access: yesACM Transactions on Algorithms, 2016
This article studies the set cover problem under the semi-streaming model. The underlying set system is formalized in terms of a hypergraph G = ( V , E ) whose edges arrive one by one, and the goal is to construct an edge cover F ⊆ E

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Glubran- 2 Acrylic Glue for Percutaneous Embolization of Intramuscular Vascular Malformations of Lower Limbs: Preliminary Experience

open access: yes, 2020
Aims: Vascular anomalies (VA) represent a heterogeneous and rare group of pathologies. Ethanol is considered the gold standard in endovascular embolization procedures, but its use exposes to the risk of major complications. Glubran-2 is a new glue agent,

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Partially polynomial kernels for set cover and test cover

open access: yes, 2016
An instance of the (n-k)-Set Cover or the (n-k)-Test Cover problems is of the form (U, S, k), where U is a set with n elements, S ⊆ 2U with |S| = m, and k is the parameter. The instance is a Yes-instance of (n - k)-Set Cover if and only if there exists S\

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

The 0-1 inverse maximum stable set problem [PDF]

open access: yes
Given an instance of a weighted combinatorial optimization problem and its feasible solution, the usual inverse problem is to modify as little as possible (with respect to a fixed norm) the given weight system to make the giiven feasible solution optimal.
