Cognitions associated with hypoglycemia awareness status and severe hypoglycemia experience in adults with type 1 diabetes:Cognitions in hypoglycemia awareness

open access: yes, 2019
Objective: Impaired awareness of hypoglycemia (IAH) and recurrent severe hypoglycemia (RSH) remain problematic for people with type 1 diabetes (T1D), despite major therapeutic advances.

Dose-related hypoglycemia in venlafaxine poisoning: a retrospective cohort study.

open access: yes, 2022
CONTEXT Several case reports describe hypoglycemia in the context of venlafaxine overdose, while investigations at therapeutic dose suggested a neutral effect on glucose homeostasis.

Efficacy and safety of empagliflozin for treating neutropenia and neutrophil dysfunction in paediatric patients with glycogen storage disease type Ib: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Glycogen storage disease type Ib (GSD‐Ib) is a rare genetic disorder causing neutropenia and neutrophil dysfunction in children. G‐CSF has been the primary treatment, but emerging data support the potential of empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, as a promising investigational option.

Hemodialysis Associated with Severe and Unpredictable Hypoglycemia

open access: yesInternal Medicine, 2016
We herein report the case of a 68-year-old man receiving hemodialysis who developed severe hypoglycemia. He became unconscious and exhibited a blood glucose level below 10 mg/dL. We ruled out the possibility of other causes; however, severe hypoglycemia was observed even after starting glucose injections.

Increasing the reporting of adverse drug reaction‐related hospitalizations using an ICD‐10‐based identification workflow: A multicentre study from Switzerland

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background Reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for drug safety. In Switzerland, healthcare professionals are legally required to report serious and unlabelled ADRs, yet under‐reporting remains widespread. We tested a novel method to increase reporting of ADR‐related hospitalizations.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.

Discharge Remote Monitoring Systems for Glycemic Management After Hospital Discharge

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, EarlyView.
Heat map of median number of telehealth interactions by subgroup and theme. Major themes identified included intervention after remote monitoring alerts (e.g., “Team reached out to participant and instructed participant to treat hypo.”), insulin dose adjustments (e.g., “Participant reported that prednisone dose is increasing … Called to discuss insulin
