A pattern and procedure for sewing bird bags for bird banders and ringers

open access: yesJournal of Field Ornithology, 2022
Bird banding (or ringing) is an essential part of many aspects of ornithology. From the time a bird is extracted from a mist net or other capture method to the time it is banded, measured, possibly tagged, and released, it is typically held individually ...

A Consideration of the Sewing Thread during the Sewing Motions

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinery of Japan - Proceedings -, 1967
The purpose of this article is to consider the behavior and physical properties of the sewing thread during sewing motion in relation to the sewability. The auther examined the relation between the Sewability and the statical properties of some sewing thread and found no relation between them.To investigate the reason, the dynamic behavior and the ...

Theoretical analysis of sewing needle heating and cooling

open access: yesJournal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics
There is a lot of research done in the field of heating of sewing needle at high-speed sewing, most of these theoretical models only calculate the gain of heat and neglect the heat losses by convection.

Threads without Ends: A mobile sewing circle

open access: yesNordic Design Research Conference, 2011
In this paper the exhibition Threads – a Mobile Sewing Circle is used as an example of a design that travels. To tell the story of how Threads travels we use the concepts of immutable mobile (Latour 1990) and fluidity (de Laet and Mol 2000) – concepts that invite us to think of standardisation and stability on one hand and changes and adaptability on ...

Prediction of seam strength of superimposed and lapped seams on plain woven cotton fabric using artificial neural network

open access: yesJournal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics
The strength of the seam is one of the most important factors in determining the garment’s durability, structural soundness, and useful life. Conventional experimental-based assessment techniques are robust, but ineffective in cases where different ...

THE EFFECTS OF SEWING THREAD PROPERTIES ON THE NEEDLE THREAD TENSION IN AN INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINE

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents the measurement of the needle thread tension in an industrial sewing machine using various sewing threads. In this work, three types of sewing threads, air-jet textured (PET), core-spun (PET/PET) and (PET)-spun were used. Two lubricant types and two lubricant feeding rates were applied to these sewing threads.
