Sex ratio under conditional sex expression
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1988We present a model to show that, when sex depends on environment rather than genotype, the sex expressed under relatively unfavorable conditions will be more abundant. This result refers to numbers of males and females in the population. By contrast, no clear prediction can be made about the allocation of resources to the two sexes.

Sex, Sex Roles, and Emotional Expressiveness
The Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1985Abstract Differences in emotional expressiveness between males and females have generally been attributed to sex-role socialization, but most studies have not included measures of sex-role orientation. We hypothesized that sex role would be a more salient factor than sex and that androgynous and feminine persons would be more expressive than masculine ...

SEX OF EXPRESSER AND CORRECT PERCEPTION OF FACIAL EXPRESSIONS OF EMOTION
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2007The influence of the sex of the expresser was examined in relation to correct perception of facial expressions by the receiver. Two hundred and twenty-seven college students (114 women, 103 men) judged seven facial expressions, anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise, by choosing the appropriate emotion name from a list of six ...

On the expression of sex dimorphism
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1981AbstractA procedure is developed and presented for the calculation of sex dimorphism in quantitative variates. Instead of expressing sex dimorphism by the male X̄/female X¯ ratio, it deletes the area of overlap of the two curves and provides the proportion of males and females in terms of the areas under each curve.

Abstract This chapter provides information on the floral development and flowering, sex determination and their molecular markers in pawpaws (Carica papaya). Floral morphology, environmental factors, plant nutrition, gene regulation and plant growth regulators affecting floral development and sex expression are also discussed.

Expression of anger as a function of assertiveness and sex
Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1981Examined differences between asserters and nonasserters and between the sexes on anger expression. Thirty-seven male and 53 female college students were administered the College Self-Expression Scale, the Buss Durkee Hostility Inventory, and the Anger Self-Report.

Sex-Biased Gene Expression in a ZW Sex Determination System
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 2006Studies of the transcriptome have shown that a substantial fraction of interspecific differences in gene expression is the result of sex-biased gene expression. These results suggest that sex-dependent selection may be an important force in generating differences between species but to date all studies have focused on Drosophila.

SEX RATIO AND SEX EXPRESSION IN THE CULTIVATED CUCURBITS
American Journal of Botany, 1931Sex expression in the Cucurbitaceae offers many interesting possibilities to the geneticist. In this comparatively large family practically everv type of sex expression is represented from the dioecious species such as Bryonia dioica to those with hermaphroditic flowers represenfted by one species of Melotheria.
