Genome-wide circular RNAs signatures involved in sexual maturation and its heterosis in chicken

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Sexual maturation heterosis has been widely exploited in animal crossbreeding. However, the underlying mechanism has been rarely explored in chicken. In the present study, we performed the reciprocal crossing between White Leghorn and Beijing You chicken

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Access to Abundant Resources Mitigates the Effects of Nutritional Status on Life History Trade‐Offs: An Experimental Study on Burying Beetles

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Individuals can adjust allocation strategies based on intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Variation in nutritional status during sexual maturation and resource acquisition during breeding may affect life history functions and trade‐offs.

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

A review of maturation and reproduction in closed thelycum penaeids

open access: yes, 1985
Commercially important penaeids of the closed thelycum group belong to five subgenera of the genus Penaeus — Penaeus, Fenneropenaeus, Marsupenaeus and Melicertus that are almost exclusively Indo-West Pacific and Farfantepenaeus that is predominantly ...

Leptin sensibility influences on mouse sexual maturation.

open access: yes, 2019
Como a incidência de obesidade em crianças têm aumentado e a leptina é um fator permissivo para o início da puberdade, os níveis circulantes de leptina elevados se tornaram um fator comum que pode causar um adiantamento da puberdade.

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Sexual selection shapes development and maturation rates in Drosophila

open access: yes, 2017
Explanations for the evolution of delayed maturity usually invoke trade-offs mediated by growth, but processes of reproductive maturation continue long after growth has ceased.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of SOX1 Antibody‐Associated Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes: A Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background SOX1 antibody‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) exhibit significant population‐specific clinical heterogeneity. While Western cohorts predominantly manifest Lambert‐Eaton myasthenic syndrome (65%–80%), comprehensive clinical characterization and treatment response data in Asian populations remain critically ...
