Measurement of arterial occlusion pressure using straight and curved blood flow restriction cuffs

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Arterial occlusion pressure (AOP) is influenced by the characteristics of the cuff used to measure AOP. Doppler ultrasound was used to measure AOP of the brachial and superficial femoral arteries using straight and curved blood flow restriction cuffs in ...

AN INTERESTING CASE OF FAMILIAL HOMOZYGOUS HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA, SFH RIYADH KSA. [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Research, 2017
Familial hypercholesterolemia is an inherited condition that cause high level of LDL and cholesterol levels beginning birth . Familial hypercholesterolemia is run in families in an autosomal manner . In autosomal dominant inherited conditions , a parent who carries an altered gene that cause the condition has 1 to 2 (50 percent ) chance to pass on that

Biochemical characterization of Sfh-I, a subclass B2 metallo-β-lactamase from Serratia fonticola UTAD54 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The subclass B2 metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) Sfh-I from Serratia fonticola UTAD54 was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein binds one equivalent of zinc, as shown by mass spectrometry, and preferentially hydrolyzes ...

Melanoma Cells Exposed to Clomiphene Citrate Respond With Cell Cycle Arrest and Reduced Invasiveness

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Epidemiological studies have suggested that clomiphene citrate (CC) exposure may increase the risk of malignant melanoma, but mechanisms are unknown. We investigated the effects of CC on melanoma cell line A375. Cells were treated with CC at 2, 20, 200, and 2000 ng/mL, followed by assessment of cell viability and metabolism, cell cycle ...

Retinal periphlebitis associated with branch retinal vein occlusion and complicated by subfoveal hemorrhage: a case report

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2022
Retinal periphlebitis is a subtype of retinal vasculitis affecting the retinal veins. We report a case of bilateral branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) associated with idiopathic retinal periphlebitis and complicated by subfoveal hemorrhage (SFH). An 18-

Applying the model for improvement to enhance recruitment and retention in a discharge intervention randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background High recruitment, intervention fidelity, and retention rates in clinical trials are necessary to ensure generalizable conclusions; quality improvement (QI) methods can be used to track and improve these rates. The Garnering Effective Telehealth to Help Optimize Multidisciplinary Team Engagement (GET2HOME) study is a randomized ...

Effects of Sunflower Hulls on Productive Performance, Digestibility Indices and Rumen Morphology of Growing Awassi Lambs Fed with Total Mixed Rations

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2021
Forty-eight growing Awassi lambs were used in a 70-day trial to investigate the effects of different levels of dietary sunflower hulls (SFH) on growth, rumen morphology, fiber digestibility and meat characteristics of lambs.

Poly(2‐Oxazoline)‐Based Polyphotoacids: Synthesis, Solution Behavior, and Cellular Uptake of Multi‐Responsive Intracellular Transporters

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
The ability of photoacids to increase their acidity in response to light irradiation (excited state proton transfer, ESPT) makes them attractive building blocks for the design of stimuli‐responsive copolymers. In this contribution, we present highly biocompatible polyphotoacids based on poly(2‐oxazoline)s bearing 1‐hydroxypyrene units. Low cytotoxicity,

From Photons to Persistent Memory: Optically Controlled Trap Engineering Enables Secure, Hierarchical Optical Storage

open access: yesNational Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a novel optical storage method using a tailored electron‐trapping phosphor, MgGeO3:Mn,Yb,Eu. Up‐conversion charging enables high‐resolution writing via two‐photon ionization, whereas trap engineering uses ambient light to shift electrons between traps.
