Cooling in the shade of warped transition disks
The mass of the gaseous reservoir in young circumstellar disks is a crucial initial condition for the formation of planetary systems, but estimates vary by orders of magnitude. In some disks with resolvable cavities, sharp inner disk warps cast two-sided

The Shadows of Future Generations [PDF]
This Note addresses the twin problems of political short-termism and intergenerational equity. Although scholars have discussed these concerns extensively, few scholars have developed proposals to modify democratic institutions-particularly legislatures ...

The influence of illumination and cast shadows on prey detectability by predators. [PDF]
Many species use camouflage to dissimulate their true form and avoid detection or recognition. In natural habitats, the three-dimensional structure of an organism’s body can present challenges for camouflage, as overhead illumination creates luminance ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Shadows of Bonnor black dihole by chaotic lensing
We have studied numerically the shadows of Bonnor black dihole through the technique of backward ray-tracing. The presence of magnetic dipole yields non-integrable photon motion, which affects sharply the shadow of the compact object.

Classical aspects of lightlike dimensional reduction [PDF]
Some aspects of lightlike dimensional reduction in flat spacetime are studied with emphasis to classical applications. Among them the Galilean transformation of shadows induced by inertial frame changes is studied in detail by proving that, (i) the ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Spiral waves triggered by shadows in transition disks [PDF]
Circumstellar asymmetries such as central warps have recently been shown to cast shadows on outer disks. We investigate the hydrodynamical consequences of such variable illumination on the outer regions of a transition disk, and the development of spiral

Meaningful Secret Image Sharing with Uniform Image Quality
In meaningful secret image sharing (MSIS), a secret image is divided into n shadows. Each shadow is meaningful and similar to the corresponding cover image.
