Shape based kinetic outlier detection in real-time PCR
Background Real-time PCR has recently become the technique of choice for absolute and relative nucleic acid quantification. The gold standard quantification method in real-time PCR assumes that the compared samples have similar PCR efficiency.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

THE FUSION OF EDGE DETECTION AND MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY ALGORITHM FOR SHAPE BOUNDARY RECOGNITION
Edge detection is important in image analysis to form the shape of an object. Edge is the boundary between different textures, which helps with object segmentation and recognition. Currently, several edge detection techniques are able to identify objects

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A hybrid Exponential-Gaussian approach for pulse shape modeling in liquid scintillators
We present a bi-Exponential-Gaussian Hybrid (EGH-2) model to quantitatively characterize scintillation pulse shapes generated by neutrons and γ-rays in the BC501A organic liquid scintillator detector. Pulses were recorded digitally from a mixed radiation

Line-Constrained Shape Feature for Building Change Detection in VHR Remote Sensing Imagery
Buildings represent the most relevant features of human activity in urban regions, but their change detection using very-high-resolution (VHR) remote sensing imagery is still a major challenge. Effective representation of the building is the key point in

A Self-Organizing Neural Scheme for Door Detection in Different Environments
Doors are important landmarks for indoor mobile robot navigation and also assist blind people to independently access unfamiliar buildings. Most existing algorithms of door detection are limited to work for familiar environments because of restricted ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
