Stratosphere–Troposphere Coupling During Cold Air Outbreaks in the Eastern United States
Abstract Cold air outbreaks (CAOs) are extreme weather events characterized by the equatorward displacement of polar air. This study investigates CAOs occurring along the East Coast of the US and establishes that approximately 16% are driven by stratosphere‐troposphere coupling through wave dynamics.

The Role of Lightning in Atmospheric Chemistry
Abstract Lightning has important effects on atmospheric constituents in primarily the middle and upper troposphere. We summarize the effects of lightning on atmospheric chemistry that have been published since the last major review in 2007. The estimates of NOx production by lightning (LNOx) are based on five methods: theoretical/laboratory estimates ...

Abstract How crustal deformation responds to complex mantle flow in continental back‐arc settings remains poorly constrained. Here, we develop a Bayesian working‐likelihood approach to estimate crust‐averaged azimuthal anisotropy from P‐wave receiver functions. The method separates crust‐averaged velocity anisotropy from dip‐related apparent anisotropy

Abstract Vertical heat exchange within the upper ocean critically influences regional climate but remains difficult to observe directly. In the Gulf of Mexico, the Loop Current and its associated eddies significantly enhance this exchange. High‐resolution glider observations reveal that this transport is dominated by sub‐daily variability an order of ...
