DEFORMATION CAPACITY AND DUCTILITY OF SHEAR CONNECTORS

open access: yesce/papers, 2023
AbstractDeformation capacity and slip range (eventually called “ductility”) of shear connectors are key parameters for the design of shear connectors in composite beams, especially in partial shear connection. Existing design rules require a deformation capacity of at least 6 mm for the use of shear connectors with plastic design methods.

Analytical model for the load-slip relationship of bearing-shear connectors

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2023
The shear behavior of shear connectors in steel-concrete composite structures mainly depends on its load-slip relationship. The load-slip relationship not only reflects the shear capacity and slip capacity of the shear connectors, but also the ...

Design Methodology of U-Shaped Infilled Composite Beams with Angled Shear Connectors Using Finite Element Analysis

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
A composite beam is a structural member that behaves as a single unit by using shear connectors between a concrete slab and an I-shaped steel girder.

Effects of Recycled Concrete on Structural Behavior of Composite Beams with Y-Rib Shear Connectors

open access: yesMisan Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2023
This study inspects the structural behavior of composite steel concrete beams connected together by Y-Rib shear connectors using recycled concrete. The main method involves using stud shear connectors with normal concrete.

Research and developments on strength and durability prediction of composite beams utilising bolted shear connectors (review) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The use of bolted shear connectors in both new construction and for strengthening damaged and substandard infrastructures has become an attractive option to increase the load-carrying capacity or fatigue strength of a design.

Shear Stiffness of Notched Connectors in Glue Laminated Timber-Concrete Composite Beams Under Fire Conditions

open access: yesBioResources, 2022
Shear connectors ensure effective interaction between wood beams and concrete slabs of composite beams, and their properties noticeably affect the fire resistance of timber-concrete composite beams.

The Shear Behavior of Insulated Precast Concrete Sandwich Panels Reinforced with BFRP

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Typical insulated precast concrete sandwich panel (PCSP) systems are composed of two concrete wythes separated by a layer of insulation. The structural behavior of insulated PCSP systems heavily depends on elements between two wythes known as connectors,

Experimental investigation on corroded stud connectors under strain rates effect

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
Shear connectors have been widely used in bridge and steel engineering to transfer the dynamic load effect between the neighbour elements. The shear connectors are exposed to moist air, and corrosion is unavoidable.

Mechanically fastened shear connectors in prefabricated concrete slabs – experimental analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Nowadays, in prefabricated composite construction, composite action between steel beam and concrete slab is often achieved with positioning of shear connectors in envisaged openings of concrete slabs.
