Refined hyperbolic shear deformation plate theory
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2014The paper presents a novel shear deformation plate theory involving only two variables. Taking a cue from exact three-dimensional theory of elasticity solutions for a plate, hyperbolic functions are used for describing displacement variation across plate thickness.

Efficient Shear Deformation Theory for Composite Shells
2021An accurate and efficient third-order shear deformation theory is presented for composite shells. The theory is capable of analyzing cross-ply and angle-ply shells. Static responses have been obtained under sinusoidally applied mechanical load on top surface. Natural frequencies have been obtained for free vibration.

Refined shear deformation theory of laminated shells
AIAA Journal, 1993This paper presents a refined approach for studying the effect of shear deformation in thick laminated anisotropic shells. The authors develop some theoretical preliminaries for a laminated composite shell with \(N\) perfectly bonded homogeneous anisotropic elastic layers.

Large Elastic Deformation of Shear Deformable Shells of Revolution: Theory and Analysis
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1987Large axisymmetric deformation of pressurized shells of revolution is studied. The governing equations include the effects of transverse normal strain and transverse shear deformation for shells composed of an incompressible, hyperelastic material.

Vibration of shear deformable rings: Theory and experiment
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1985A new first-approximation theory is presented for analysis of the in-plane dynamic behavior of shear deformable ring structures. This theory may be applied to curved beams as well as complete rings. Natural frequencies and associated vibrational modes for a complete ring are investigated experimentally using modern instrumentation and experimental ...

Large-Deformation Theory: Shear and Torsion
2005Abstract IN the preceding chapters our principal concern has been with the problem of defining the properties of a rubber under the most general type of strain, and we have seen that these properties may conveniently be represented in terms of the strain-energy W per unit volume of the material for a pure homogeneous strain.

A second-order theory for shear deformation of drops
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1967Abstract A liquid drop is supposed suspended in an immiscible liquid of equal density that undergoes slow steady shear flow. From a solution of Stokes' creeping motion equations in which the tangential component of normal stress is assumed continuous across the drop surface, the equation giving the drop shape is found approximately, cubes and higher ...

Shear deformable theories for cylindrical laminates - Equilibrium and buckling with applications
AIAA Journal, 1992Summary: A higher order theory is developed (kinematic relations, constitutive relations, equilibrium equations, and boundary conditions), which includes initial geometric imperfections and transverse shear effects for a laminated cylindrical configuration under the actions of lateral pressure, axial compression, and eccentrically applied torsion ...

A Higher Order Shear Deformation Theory for the Vibration of Thick Plates
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1994Abstract Several first order, shear deformation theories for thick plates have been formulated during the past half-century (e.g., by Reissner, Hencky, Mindlin and Ambartsumyan). The Mindlin theory has been widely used for vibration analysis. It is well known that consideration of shear flexibility corrects the flexural frequencies by reducing them ...
