Static shear modulus of electrorheological fluids [PDF]
We report measurements of the static shear modulus of electrorheological (ER) fluids consisting of water-wetted silica microspheres in silicone oil. A shear-annealing method, using creep-recovery (CR) cycles under an external electric field, is used to enhance ER properties of the fluid.

The Shear Modulus of Liquids [PDF]
According to the interstitialcy model of condensed matter states, liquids are crystals containing a few percent of self-interstitials in thermal equilibrium. Glasses are frozen liquids. The model is expressed in terms of the properties of the shear modulus, which decreases exponentially with the interstitial concentration and temperature in the liquid ...

Validity of measurement of shear modulus by ultrasound shear wave elastography in human pennate muscle. [PDF]
Ultrasound shear wave elastography is becoming a valuable tool for measuring mechanical properties of individual muscles. Since ultrasound shear wave elastography measures shear modulus along the principal axis of the probe (i.e., along the transverse ...

Experimental study on dynamic shear characteristics of loess under cyclic torsional shearing
The unsaturated intact loess has remarkable structured properties. Its structure is damaged by wetting and cyclic shear action, which leads to the development of shear and subsidence deformation of loess under earthquake.
