Genomic Reconstruction of the History of Native Sheep Reveals the Peopling Patterns of Nomads and the Expansion of Early Pastoralism in East Asia

open access: yesMolecular biology and evolution, 2017
China has a rich resource of native sheep (Ovis aries) breeds associated with historical movements of several nomadic societies. However, the history of sheep and the associated nomadic societies in ancient China remains poorly understood.

Tumor‐Associated Sympathetic Nerves Promote the Progression of Epstein‐Barr Virus‐Positive Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sympathetic nerve innervation promotes the progression of Epstein‐Barr virus‐positive diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL) via β2‐adrenergic receptors. The discovery of enhanced nerve infiltration and β2AR expression reveals a novel mechanism and highlights the sympathetic–β2AR axis as a promising target for therapeutic intervention in EBV+ DLBCL.

FTO-mediated demethylation of GADD45B promotes myogenesis through the activation of p38 MAPK pathway

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2021
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays a critical role in mammalian development. However, the role of m6A in the skeletal muscle development remains largely unknown.

Better odds of lamb survival in sheep at dry arid tropical region of India

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2020
Lamb survival till first 28 days of life is critical as it increases the chances of economic gain in flock. Objective of the current study was to assess the incidence of neonatal mortality in lambs born in arid region of India and genetic and non-genetic

Genomic signatures of adaptive introgression from European mouflon into domestic sheep

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Mouflon (Ovis aries musimon) became extinct from mainland Europe after the Neolithic, but remnant populations from the Mediterranean islands of Corsica and Sardinia have been used for reintroductions across Europe since the 19th-century.

Effects of Ostertagia circumcincta larvae and adult parasites on abomasal and intestinal tissues in sheep : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Physiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Ostertagia circumcincta parasites infect the abomasum of sheep causing damage to the abomasal tissues and significant production losses to the sheep farming industry.

Piezoelectric Biomaterials for Bone Regeneration: Roadmap from Dipole to Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Piezoelectric biomaterials convert mechanical forces into electrical signals, offering novel strategies to restore and modulate bone microenvironments for tissue engineering. This review examines molecular dipole origins, spatial arrangements, and pseudo‐piezoelectric mechanisms and highlights dipole‐engineering techniques for osteogenesis regulation ...

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Ethiopian Sheep Populations Revealed by High-Density SNP Markers

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2017
Sheep in Ethiopia are adapted to a wide range of environments, including extreme habitats. Elucidating their genetic diversity is critical for improving breeding strategies and mapping quantitative trait loci associated with productivity.
