Abstract Filamentous microorganisms are used as molecular factories in industrial biotechnology. In 2007, a new approach to improve productivity in submerged cultivation was introduced: microparticle‐enhanced cultivation (MPEC). Since then, numerous studies have investigated the influence of microparticles on the cultivation.

A convenient separation strategy for fungal anthraquinones by centrifugal partition chromatography
Abstract As recently shown, some fungal pigments exhibit significant photoactivity turning them into promising agents for the photodynamic treatment of microbial infections or malignant diseases. In the present study, a separation strategy for fungal anthraquinones was developed based on centrifugal partition chromatography.

We and herbivores eat endophytes
Here a cycle of endophytic‐enteric‐soil‐endophytic microbes is proposed which has relevance for health and comprises the fate of animal faeces as natural microbial inoculants for plants that constitute bacterial sources for animal guts. Summary Health depends on the diet and a vegetal diet promotes health by providing fibres, vitamins and diverse ...

Photodynamic activity of HB against S. aureus was comprehensively profiled, and this effect can be strengthened by joint action with curcumin. HB/curcumin photo‐inactivated S. aureus through disrupting cell envelope integrity and inducing diverse set of oxidative stress, forming a synergistic aPDI method depending on the irradiated conditions.

Cercospora beticola: The intoxicating lifestyle of the leaf spot pathogen of sugar beet
The hemibiotrophic fungus Cercospora beticola applies various virulence strategies to infect sugar beet and is currently only managed in‐field through integrated practices. Abstract Cercospora leaf spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora beticola, is the most destructive foliar disease of sugar beet worldwide. This review discusses C.

Fungal Laccases and Their Applications in Bioremediation
Laccases are blue multicopper oxidases, which catalyze the monoelectronic oxidation of a broad spectrum of substrates, for example, ortho- and para-diphenols, polyphenols, aminophenols, and aromatic or aliphatic amines, coupled with a full, four‐electron reduction of O2 to H2O.

Impact of Endophytic Microorganisms on Plants, Environment and Humans
Endophytes are microorganisms (bacteria or fungi or actinomycetes) that dwell within robust plant tissues by having a symbiotic association. They are ubiquitously associated with almost all plants studied till date. Some commonly found endophytes are those belonging to the genera Enterobacter sp., Colletotrichum sp., Phomopsis sp., Phyllosticta sp ...
