Micropropagation of Plantago asiatica L. through culture of shoot-tips

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
Shoot-tip multiplication of the medicinal species - Plantago asiatica was carried on MS medium with IAA and BAP or kinetin. Best results in micropropagation were achieved by adding 0.1 mg/dm3 IAA and 1 mg/dm3 BAP. After 6 weeks shoots were transferred to

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Some physiological effects of the herbicide bromacil (5-bromo-3-sec-butyl-6-methyluracil) on Asparagus officinalis L. : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The root-absorbed, photosynthesis-inhibiting herbicide bromacil (5-bromo-3-sec-butyl-6-methyluracil) was applied in sand culture to tissue-cultured 18-month-old Mary Washington 500W clone of Asparagus officinalis L.

Leaf-applied sodium chloride promotes cadmium accumulation in durum wheat grain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cadmium (Cd) accumulation in durum wheat grain is a growing concern. Among the factors affecting Cd accumulation in plants, soil chloride (Cl) concentration plays a critical role.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Comparison of protons and very high-energy electrons transmission pencil-beam-scanning for FLASH radiotherapy

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology
Background and purpose: Very High-Energy Electron (VHEE) radiotherapy stands as a promising alternative to proton therapy in view of the FLASH effect, which allows for differential sparing of healthy tissues under ultra-high dose rate irradiation.

In vitro regeneration of Centaurium erythraea Rafn from shoot tips and other seedling explants

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
Various explants from 30-day-old seedlings of Centaurium erythraea Rafn were evaluated for their morphogenetic capacity under in vitro culture conditions.

Nitrogen uptake and internal recycling in Zostera marina exposed to oyster farming: eelgrass potential as a natural biofilter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Oyster farming in estuaries and coastal lagoons frequently overlaps with the distribution of seagrass meadows, yet there are few studies on how this aquaculture practice affects seagrass physiology.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

An evaluation of alternative methods of P application for increased maize production under smallholder farmers' conditions in Kenya [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa are confronted by low crop production due to phosphorus deficiency and a limited investment capacity in P inputs.
