Filtering short term fluctuations in inflation analysis
İktisat İşletme ve Finans, 2012Many economic time series, specifically inflation, are subject to seasonal fluctuations. Seasonal adjustment is a powerful tool for removing such fluctuations. Meanwhile, seasonal adjustment may provide highly volatile series, as it deals with certain type of movements completed on seasonal frequencies. However, short term fluctuations occurring at non-

Short-term hearing fluctuation in Meniere's disease
International Journal of Audiology, 2009This study aimed to assess the extent and implications of short-term hearing fluctuation in Meniere's disease. Thirty-six subjects diagnosed with Meniere's were recruited to measure their own hearing using in-situ audiometry via a hearing aid (Widex Diva) and a portable programmer (SP3).

Traffic estimation with short-term fluctuating component
Networks 2008 - The 13th International Telecommunications Network Strategy and Planning Symposium, 2008Technical Findings: Even if the sum of peak rates are same, the estimation of maximum traffic volume is different. If the traffic with high peak rates exists, the maximum traffic volume tends to be big since the variance is high. When all peak rates are ?, the maximum traffic volume takes the trivial upper bound.

Short-Period Intensity Fluctuations of Integral Sunlight
Solar Physics, 1981An attempt has been made to detect short-period solar luminosity fluctuations in the vicinity of 5 min, analogous to the observed velocity oscillation. Using silicon photodiodes to monitor integral sunlight, an upper limit for the amplitude of the intensity fluctuations of 3 x 10-5 rms was found.

Fluctuations in Sonar: A Short Survey
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974Sonar fluctuations received intensive study during the hectic days of World War II, when the causes of fluctuation were identified and some quantitative data were obtained at the frequencies and ranges of current interest. Since then, in the search for mean values of the sonar parameters, fluctuations have tended to be neglected as a subject of serious

Antiferromagnetic fluctuations and short-range order in a Kagomé lattice
Physical Review Letters, 1990We report neutron-scattering measurements on ${\mathrm{SrCr}}_{8\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$${\mathrm{Ga}}_{4+\mathit{x}}$${\mathrm{O}}_{19}$, a layered compound containing Kagom\'e planes of S=3/2 ${\mathrm{Cr}}^{3+}$ ions. From magnetic-susceptibility data, the Curie-Weiss constant is large and negative; ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\theta}}}_ ...

A Nonlinear Dynamic Model of Short Run Fluctuations
The Review of Economic Studies, 1981Most recent attempts to model the "business cycle" (see the work of Lucas (1975), Sargent-Wallace (1975), Taylor (1979)) adopt a Frisch-Slutsky framework, in which the persistence of fluctuations in macroeconomic activity is explained by the persistence of random shocks impinging on an otherwise stable (and usually linear) systematic component. Work by

Short period fluctuations of the equatorial electrojet
Nature, 1976THE signal strength and Doppler frequency spectra of v.h.f. backscatter radar echoes from the equatorial electrojet are being recorded at Thumba near Trivandrum (dip ∼ 1 °S). The v.h.f. radar operates on 54.95 MHz, with identical arrays of Yagi antennae for transmission and reception; the beam axis is orientated either vertically or obliquely at 30° to

Econometric Analysis of the Short-run Fluctuations of Households' Purchases
The Review of Economic Studies, 1993Infrequency of purchase models are alternatives to those derived from the classical 'utility maximization with binding nonnegativity constraints'scheme for modeling purchases that occur at random dates. An extension of those models is proposed that takes into account additional information about the exact number of times households purchased during the

SHORT‐TERM FLUCTUATIONS IN PLASMA CORTISOL IN CUSHING'S SYNDROME
Clinical Endocrinology, 1977SUMMARYShort‐term fluctuations in plasma cortisol were determined overnight in twelve patients with Cushing's syndrome: eight patients with bilateral adrenal hyperplasia of hypothalamic‐pituitary origin, three patients with a cortisol producing adenoma and one patient with a carcinoma of the adrenal cortex.
