Detection of OH Maser Emission in the 71 yr Periodic Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks Using the 40 m Thai National Radio Telescope

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Although the optical cometary database is extensive, the radio database is limited. The 18 cm OH maser observations of comets allow us to determine (i) the production rate of OH ( Q _OH ) and (ii) the water expansion velocity, for each comet.

Svante Arrhenius, cosmical physicist and auroral theorist [PDF]

open access: yesHistory of Geo- and Space Sciences, 2013
Many scientists in the fin de siècle era saw a need to coordinate and unify the increasing amount of data relating the physical conditions of the Earth and the Sun; or more generally to establish a synthetic perspective that covered the earth sciences in

Impact of Methylparaben on Cumulus Cell DNA Integrity and Porcine Oocyte Developmental Competence In Vitro

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Parabens (PBs) are compounds widely used as preservatives in personal care products, food, and pharmaceuticals. Methylparaben (MePB) is the most used by different industries due to its chemical properties and low cost. The high daily human exposure to these compounds has raised concerns about their potential effects on health, particularly on ...

Exploreneos. Viii. Dormant short-period comets in the near-Earth asteroid population

open access: yes, 2015
We perform a search for dormant comets, asteroidal objects of cometary origin, in the near-Earth asteroid (NEA) population based on dynamical and physical considerations.

Evaluation of DNA/Chromosome Integrity and Cell Death in Human Metabolically Noncompetent and Competent Cells Exposed to N′‐(3,5‐Difluorobenzylidene)Pyridine‐4‐Carbohydrazide

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The N‐acylhydrazone scaffold is recognized as a privileged structure for the design of bioactive substances with increasing applications in medicinal chemistry research. Ensuring the safety of newly developed molecules is a critical step for both human health and environmental protection. Accordingly, this study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic

The magnitude distribution and evolution of short-period comets [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2002
The magnitude distribution, perihelion distribution, nucleus size variation and evolution of the short-period comet population are re-assessed. Short-period comets with perihelion distances greater than 2 au have a magnitude distribution index of about 2.3, similar to that of the long-period comets.

Deubiquitinase USP38 Stabilizes PLK1 Expression to Boost DNA Damage Repair in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the most prevalent and severe gynecological malignant tumors. DNA damage repair (DDR) is essential in maintaining genome stability. This study aims to investigate the effects and mechanisms of USP38 and PLK1 on DNA damage repair and malignant behavior in OC cells.

Inferring the CO2 Abundance in Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková from [O i] Observations: Implications for the Source of Icy Grains in Cometary Comae

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
The study of cometary composition is important for understanding our solar system's early evolutionary processes. Carbon dioxide (CO _2 ) is a common hypervolatile in comets that can drive activity but is more difficult to study than other hypervolatiles
