Alternative Policy Designs to Help Farmers Select Profitable Conservation Practices

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Voluntary private carbon initiatives (VPCIs) promote the implementation of agricultural conservation practices that mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) via financial incentives to participating farmers. Simultaneously, an array of public policies supports the adoption of conservation practices through technical and financial ...

Dust On, Dust Off: HST Observations of the Newly Dormant Jupiter Co-orbital Comet P/2023 V6 (PANSTARRS)

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
As the Centaurs of the outer solar system have become better studied, their relationship with the Jupiter-family comets (JFCs) and their connection to the primordial protoplanetary disk have come under deeper scrutiny: which properties of the comets ...

Research of effect of initial data displacement on results of calculation of orbits evolution for short-period comets

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2007
We study the problems of stability of solution and the effect of initial data errors on the results of calculation of orbits evolution for short-period comets on the time intervals within the order of 100 years.

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.

The Evolution of Activity and Chemical Composition in Rosetta’s Comet Targets across Multiple Apparitions: Complications for CS2 as the CS Parent in Comet Nuclei

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
Jupiter-family comets are ephemeral small bodies injected into the inner solar system from the Kuiper Belt, doomed to either sublimate all their volatiles and become inert or violently shatter from the activity.

Statistical and numerical studies of the orbital evolution of short-period comets [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1985
AbstractThe evolutionary paths connecting cometary reservoirs in the outer solar system and the population of periodic comets involve stellar and planetary perturbations. Close planetary encounters play a special role, making the dynamical evolution slow or fast depending on the orbital elements of the comet at various stages of the process.

Linear Viscoelastic Behavior of n‐Alkane Diluted Polyethylene Melts: Sorption, Desorption, and Oscillatory Rheometry

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically maps polyolefin dilution dynamics using a homologous series of n‐alkanes. Integrating gravimetric sorption, subsequent controlled desorption, and oscillatory rheometry establishes a precise framework to analyze reduction in viscosity at least for polymer diluent mixtures with polymer concentration > 35% and diluent ...

Detection of OH Maser Emission in the 71 yr Periodic Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks Using the 40 m Thai National Radio Telescope

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Although the optical cometary database is extensive, the radio database is limited. The 18 cm OH maser observations of comets allow us to determine (i) the production rate of OH ( Q _OH ) and (ii) the water expansion velocity, for each comet.
