Shoulder Biomechanics

open access: yes, 2017
The shoulder complex provides greater freedom of motion than any other joint in the body at the expense of reduced stability. Shoulder joint movements include flexion-extension, abduction-addcuction, circumduction and rotation. They result from a complex

SUBSCAPULAR INJURY: PROSPECTIVE COMPARISON OF PHYSICAL EXAMINATION, MRI AND ARTHROSCOPY [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ortopédica Brasileira
Rotator cuff injury is the most frequent etiology of shoulder pain, with 24% of these injuries involving the subscapular tendon. Objective: To correlate the findings of three clinical tests (Gerber test, Belly Press test, and Bear Hug test) with ...

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...

Effects of Strength Training Program and Infrared Thermography in Soccer Athletes Injuries

open access: yesSports, 2018
The purpose of this investigation was to examine the effects of a periodized strength training program and the use of infrared thermography (IRT) in injuries mapping in under 20-year-old (U-20) soccer players.

In Situ Lithium Nitridosilicate Interlayer via Reactive Anolyte Design for All‐Solid‐State Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Interfacial reactions in all‐solid‐state batteries are conventionally suppressed; here, they are designed. Vacancy‐rich β‐Li3N, acting as an anolyte, reacts controllably with silicon during composite anode fabrication, building a purpose‐made lithium nitridosilicate interlayer on every particle surface.

A Thermoreversible Gelation Pathway to Plant Cuticle‐Inspired Biopolymer Aerogel Monoliths Based on Network‐Spherulitic Crystal Assemblies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
To address functionality limitations in plant‐based and industrially compostable polymer aerogels, this work introduces bio‐inspired aerogels with broadened functionality. Inspired by functional plant tissues, lightweight biopolymer aerogels based on exclusively stereocomplex crystals are fabricated, featuring hierarchically macro‐/meso‐porous ...

Study on micro extra deep drawing process with ultrahigh fluid pressure and press motion controls

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
A novel micro extra deep drawing process with ultrahigh fluid pressure and press motion controls are developed. A space between the blank and 1st punch is made by the press motion at the 2nd drawing stage and the ultrahigh pressure is applied so as to be

A Family of Sodium Solid‐State Electrolytes Based on the NaGaxAl1‐xCl4 Solid Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sodium‐based metal chloride solid electrolytes are promising for sodium solid‐state batteries due to their excellent oxidation stability, which, as shown for Li halides, can coexist with high ionic conductivity. To explore cationic substitution effects, we synthesized NaGaxAl1‐xCl4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) via ball milling and investigated structural and ...

Thermoplastic Dielectric Coatings for Flexible Electrodynamic Dust Shields: Structural and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Thermoplastic attachment is introduced as a scalable surface coating strategy to improve the durability and dielectric reliability of flexible electrodynamic dust shields. By embedding chemically modified reduced graphene oxide (CMrGO) electrodes within thermoplastic laminates, mechanical degradation, abrasion damage, and vacuum‐induced electrical ...

The impact of grip width on kinetics and kinematics in the shoulder press among resistance-trained men

open access: yesSports Biomechanics
This study investigated the impact of grip width on kinematics and kinetics in the seated barbell shoulder press among resistance-trained men. Eleven participants (age: 25.9 ± 3.1 years, height: 180.4 ± 5.4 cm, body mass: 87.0 ± 7.9 kg) performed eight repetitions to failure with a narrow, medium and wide grip width.
