Green synthesis, characterization and antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles using Acanthus ilicifolius leaf extract

open access: yesHybrid Advances
The green biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using plants has become a promising approach for developing potent agents against fatal pathogens. The present study evaluated the green production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from the extract of

Analysis of hybrid combining ability for growth and multiple stress tolerance traits in the Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei

open access: yesFrontiers in Animal Science, 2022
To identify optimal mating combinations for Litopenaeus vannamei, a linear mixed model was used to estimate the general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) for growth and multiple stress tolerance [high salt (35‰), low pH (6 ± 0 ...

Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

Biochemical and structural characterization of a recombinant fibrinogen-related lectin from Penaeus monodon

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Fibrinogen-related lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins of the innate immune system that recognize glycan structures on microbial surfaces. These innate immune lectins are crucial for invertebrates as they do not rely on adaptive immunity for ...

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Genome-wide association study identified genes associated with ammonia nitrogen tolerance in Litopenaeus vannamei

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Ammonia nitrogen tolerance is an economically important trait of the farmed penaeid shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. To identify the genes associated with ammonia nitrogen tolerance, we performed an extreme phenotype genome-wide association study method (XP ...

Multiscale Hybrid Surface Topographies Orchestrate Immune Regulation, Antibacterial Defense, and Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid wrinkled topographies coordinate immune, tissue, and bacterial interactions. The surfaces promote osteointegration, tune macrophage polarization, and inhibit biofilm formation, highlighting a multifunctional strategy for next‐generation implant design.

SiO2‐CaOCME/Poly(Tetrahydrofuran)/Poly(Caprolactone) 3D‐Printed Scaffolds Drive Human‐Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Osteogenic Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
3D printed hybrid scaffolds combining bioactive silica–calcium chemistry with elastic polymers guide human bone stem cells to form bone. The scaffolds support cell survival, organization, and invasion while releasing osteogenic ions. Together, architecture and composition drive bone‐specific gene expression, extracellular matrix organization, and ...

Transgenic Microalgae Expressing Double-Stranded RNA as Potential Feed Supplements for Controlling White Spot Syndrome in Shrimp Aquaculture

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Viral infection of farmed fish and shellfish represents a major issue within the aquaculture industry. One potential control strategy involves RNA interference of viral gene expression through the oral delivery of specific double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). In

Microbial community characterization of shrimp survivors to AHPND challenge test treated with an effective shrimp probiotic (Vibrio diabolicus)

open access: yesMicrobiome, 2021
Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) is an important shrimp bacterial disease caused by some Vibrio species. The severity of the impact of this disease on aquaculture worldwide has made it necessary to develop alternatives to prophylactic ...
