[Peritovenous shunt (Denver Shunt) in therapy resistant ascites in childhood].

Monatsschrift Kinderheilkunde : Organ der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Kinderheilkunde, 1983
This paper describes a 14 year old girl with massive, intractable ascites. After implantation of a peritoneovenous shunting-system (Denver-Shunt) the ascites completely disappeared and the girl's state of health improved markedly. Although the surgical procedure is simple many problems may arise postoperatively which demand intensive monitoring.

Low-Resistance Shunts for Impulse Currents

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1971
In high-voltage technology, plasma physics and power electronics low-ohmic resistors are frequently employed to measure high, rapidly changing currents. Their voltage drop is adversely affected by stray inductances and skin effect. A more complete analysis of low- ohmic tubular type and squirrel cage type resistors including such effects is presented ...

Extracardiac Shunt For Nitric Oxide-Resistant Pulmonary Hypertension

Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 1998
An interatrial extracardiac shunt was used to manage severe postoperative pulmonary hypertension, refractory to inhaled nitric oxide, in an infant undergoing repair of ventricular septal defect. The rationale, technique, and potential applications of this method are discussed.

Design improvements of the resistive shunt online impedance analyzer

2017 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2017
Power Line Carrier Communications (PLC) is often used for SmartGrid Communications. To design efficient PLC couplers, the impedance of the power line must be known. The Resistive Shunt Impedance Analyzer (RSOIA) allows such impedances to be measured. This paper describes the design and calibration improvements of an updated RSOIA, which can accurately ...

[Shunt method of determining vascular resistance].

Biulleten' eksperimental'noi biologii i meditsiny, 1981
A method is suggested for determining vascular resistance from the blood flow in the test vascular bed and in the shunt tube that is invariable in length and diameter, paralleled to this bed. In conformity with Hagen-Poiselles's equations, the viscosity component dependent on the composition and the temperature of blood should be omitted in the results

The Measurement Challenge of DC Resistance Shunts

NCSL International Workshop & Symposium Conference Proceedings 2012, 2012
During the 2011 NCSLI Workshop & Symposium the initial data for an NCSLI shunt inter-laboratory comparison (ILC) was presented and the data clearly showed the existence of measurement pitfalls in the field of dc shunts. The sharing of this data led to an examination of dc shunt measurements at the Canadian National Measurement Institute (NMI).In ...

Performance of dc SQUIDs with resistively shunted inductance

Applied Physics Letters, 1989
We have fabricated and characterized the noise performance of well-coupled Nb-Pb alloy edge junction dc superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) with a resistively shunted inductance. The extra damping resistor removes the resonances in the current-voltage characteristics resulting in a very low value of the extrinsic energy sensitivity in

Time resolution of Josephson balanced comparators with shunt resistance

Automatic Control and Computer Sciences, 2014
In this paper, the time resolution of Josephson balanced comparators with shunt resistance is theoretically estimated. A general expression is obtained for the time resolution of the linearly growing strobe pulse. It is shown that the time resolution deteriorates by a factor of (1+2R N /R

Temperature dependence of shunt resistance in photovoltaic devices

Applied Physics Letters, 1986
Shunt resistance in surface passivated Si solar cells has been experimentally shown to be temperature dependent with a maximum value of 2×107 Ω cm2. Mechanisms responsible for shunt resistance are identified as a combination of multistep tunneling and thermal trapping-detrapping of carriers through the defect states in the space-charge region.
