Rabbit palatal mucosa sialoglycoproteins: Solubilization and biosynthesis in vitro
Archives of Oral Biology, 1974Abstract An extraction scheme is presented for rapidly and almost quantitatively solubilizing tissue sialoglycoproteins by selective means. Central to this approach is the use of protease-free bacterial collagenase for obtaining “collagen-associated” molecules from the extracellular matrix.

Gangliosides, sialoglycoproteins and acetylcholinesterase of the developing mouse brain
Wilhelm Roux's Archives of Developmental Biology, 1977The developmental accretion of up to nine individual gangliosides in foetal brains, peri- and postnatal cortices, postnatal cerebelli and olfactory lobes and in the liver and the spleen were investigated in mice and compared with that of glycoprotein-bound sialic acid and the activity of the acetylcholinesterase. In foetal brain and in postnatal liver ...

The Biosynthesis of Gangliosides and Sialoglycoproteins in Bovine Retina
1977The biosynthesis of gangliosides and sialoglycoproteins in retina has been studied “in vitro” measuring the incorporation of 3H-NeuNAc from CMP-3H-NeuNAc into endogenous acceptors of bovine retina.

Interactions between a membrane sialoglycoprotein and planar lipid bilayers
The Journal of Membrane Biology, 1978Bilayer membranes formed from lipids dissolved in decane were exposed to glycophorin, a sialoglycoprotein which had been extracted from human red cell membranes. The interaction with the bilayer produced an increase in the steady state electrical conductance of the membrane proportional to the amount added.

Nucleotide pyrophosphatase, a sialoglycoprotein located on the hepatocyte surface
Nature, 1974A sialoglycoprotein enzyme hydrolysing nucleotide pyrophosphate bonds is a major externally located component on the hepatocyte surface membrane.

Leukosialin, a major sialoglycoprotein defining leucocyte differentiation.
Ciba Foundation symposium, 1989We have isolated a major sialoglycoprotein on leucocytes and found that this glycoprotein, termed leukosialin, is ubiquitously present on various human leucocytes (granulocytes, monocytes/macrophages and T lymphocytes). Our studies showed that leukosialin is significantly glycosylated by O-linked oligosaccharides (70 chains/molecule).
