Nitrate toxicity in Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri)

open access: yesAquaculture, 2006
Abstract Excess nitrate in aquaculture has traditionally been reduced by water exchange. Current trends in environmental regulation, however, are limiting the amount of water which may be consumed or discharged, reducing the ability to use large influxes of water to remediate excess nitrate. This will create significant challenges for the aquaculture

Endogenous excretion of Siberian sturgeon,Acipenser baeriBrandt

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources, 1991
The evolution of the ammonia excretion has been monitored for the siberian sturgeon during a fasting period. This excretion quickly decreases for various weight classes, and then reaches a constant level. The results seem to show that the sturgeon basal metabolism is very weak and that food alone is resonsible for the existence of a nychteremal cycle.

First review of recent records of sturgeons and paddlefishes (Acipenseriformes) in the Danube River basin in Slovenia

open access: yesNatura Sloveniae, 2018
We present recent records of sturgeons and paddlefishes from the rivers in Danube basin in Slovenia after 2000. Strictly, only confirmed and unambiguous records (specimen, picture) were taken into account. The sterlet and the Siberian sturgeon have been
