βγ-systems interacting with sigma-models

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We find a geometric description of interacting βγ-systems as a null Kac-Moody quotient of a nonlinear sigma-model for systems with varying amounts of supersymmetry.

Entanglement Entropy and Quantum Phase Transition in the O(N) σ-model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We investigate how entanglement entropy behaves in a non-conformal scalar field system with a quantum phase transition, by the replica method. We study the σ-model in 3+1 dimensions which is O(N) symmetric as the mass squared parameter μ 2 is positive ...

Solitary Waves in Massive Nonlinear S^N-Sigma Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Preprint[EN] The solitary waves of massive (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear S^N-sigma models are unveiled. It is shown that the solitary waves in these systems are in one-to-one correspondence with the separatrix trajectories in the repulsive N-dimensional ...

Linear sigma models with torsion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2011
Gauged linear sigma models with (0,2) supersymmetry allow a larger choice of couplings than models with (2,2) supersymmetry. We use this freedom to find a fully linear construction of torsional heterotic compactifications, including models with branes.

A partially linearized sigma point filter for latent state estimation in nonlinear time series models

open access: yes, 2010
A new technique for the latent state estimation of a wide class of nonlinear time series models is proposed. In particular, we develop a partially linearized sigma point filter in which random samples of possible state values are generated at the ...

Integrable deformations of sigma models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2022
Abstract In this pedagogical review we introduce systematic approaches to deforming integrable two-dimensional sigma models. We use the integrable principal chiral model and the conformal Wess–Zumino–Witten model as our starting points and explore their Yang–Baxter and current–current deformations.

Anderson localization in sigma models

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In QCD above the chiral restoration temperature there exists an Anderson transition in the fermion spectrum from localized to delocalized modes. We investigate whether the same holds for nonlinear sigma models which share properties like dynamical mass ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
