Dynkin's Isomorphism with Sign Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Dynkin isomorphism associates a Gaussian field to a Markov chain. These Gaussian fields can be used as priors for prediction and time series analysis. Dynkin's construction gives Gaussian fields with all non-negative covariances.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Mpath maps multi-branching single-cell trajectories revealing progenitor cell progression during development

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The tools for constructing cell lineages from single cell data are limited. Here, the authors present Mpath: an algorithm to derive multi-branching trajectories using neighbourhood-based cell state transitions, and use this to predict developmental ...

A new framework for sign language recognition based on 3D handshape identification and linguistic modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Current approaches to sign recognition by computer generally have at least some of the following limitations: they rely on laboratory conditions for sign production, are limited to a small vocabulary, rely on 2D modeling (and therefore cannot deal with ...

Inference for VARs Identified with Sign Restrictions

open access: yes, 2018
There is a fast growing literature that set-identifies structural vector autoregressions (SVARs) by imposing sign restrictions on the responses of a subset of the endogenous variables to a particular structural shock (sign-restricted SVARs). Most methods

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Asymptotic sign coherence conjecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
The sign coherence phenomenon is an important feature of c-vectors in cluster algebras with principal coefficients. In this note, we consider a more general version of c-vectors defined for arbitrary cluster algebras of geometric type and formulate a ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Ergonomic assessment of kitchen workspace demands among older adults in India

open access: yesDiscover Public Health
Indian kitchens remain physically demanding environments for older adults, who routinely perform labour-intensive tasks such as kneading, chopping, grinding, stirring, and utensil washing.
