An Open CAPT System for Prosody Practice: Practical Steps towards Multilingual Setup

open access: yesLanguages
This paper discusses the challenges posed in creating a Computer-Assisted Pronunciation Training (CAPT) environment for multiple languages. By selecting one language from each of three different language families, we show that a single environment may be

A computer based education system for signal processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Tässä työssä tutkitaan tietokoneavusteista opetusta (TAO) signaalinkäsittelyssä. Työ koostuu signaalinkäsittelyyn soveltuvan TAO-ympäristön kehittämisestä ja esimerkkisovelluksen "Introduction to Signal Processing" rakentamisesta.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Centrifugation-assisted lateral flow assay platform: enhancing bioassay sensitivity with active flow control

open access: yesMicrosystems & Nanoengineering
Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are widely used in point-of-care testing (POCT) due to their simplicity and rapid operation. However, their reliance on passive capillary flow limits sensitivity, making it challenging to detect low-abundance biomarkers ...

Generalized MIMO transmit preprocessing using pilot symbol assisted rateless codes

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we propose a generalized multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmit preprocessing system, where both the channel coding and the linear MIMO transmit precoding components exploit the knowledge of the channel. Moreover, we also propose a

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
