Impact of Trucks on Signalized Intersection Capacity

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 2010
The most common method used for the analysis of signalized intersections in the United States is contained in the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM). In this method, the base saturation flow rate of the signalized intersection is defined in units of passenger cars per hour green per lane (pc/hg/ln). To account for the presence of large trucks in the traffic

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

A new delay parameter dependent on variable analysis periods at signalized intersections. Part 1: Model development [PDF]

open access: yesTransport, 2008
Delay is an important factor in the optimization of traffic signals and the determination of the level of service of a signalized intersection. This paper proposes a methodology and a new formulation to identify the delay parameter in signalized ...

A Theoretical Model for Optimizing Signalized Intersection and Roundabout Distance Using Microsimulations

open access: yesFuture Transportation
Traffic congestion in urban areas is a pressing challenge, with roundabouts and signalized intersections offering different operational benefits. This study explores the integration of these two intersection types, focusing on the optimal distance ...

Evaluation of bike boxes at signalized intersections

open access: yesAccident Analysis & Prevention, 2012
This paper presents a before-after study of bike boxes at 10 signalized intersections in Portland, Oregon. The bike boxes, also known as advanced stop lines or advanced stop boxes, were installed to increase visibility of cyclists and reduce conflicts between motor vehicles and cyclists, particularly in potential "right-hook" situations.

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

تقيــيـــــــم أداء وتحســـــين تقاطع القدس في مدينــــــة بغـــــــداد

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2011
Intersections are usually considered as the critical points within the network and the evaluation of their performance provides valuable understanding and useful indication about the performance of the system.

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Optimisation of Signal-controlled Intersection Capacity

open access: yesPromet - Traffic&Transportation, 2012
Road traffic safety is a complex system which combines movement of entities in precisely determined space and time dimension. Each of the entities, with their different properties, sets different requirements to road traffic system, including also other entities.
