Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Off-Line Handwritten Signature Recognition by Wavelet Entropy and Neural Network

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Handwritten signatures are widely utilized as a form of personal recognition. However, they have the unfortunate shortcoming of being easily abused by those who would fake the identification or intent of an individual which might be very harmful ...

Object recognition using spatiotemporal signatures

open access: yesVision Research, 1998
The sequence of images generated by motion between observer and object specifies a spatiotemporal signature for that object. Evidence is presented that such spatiotemporal signatures are used in object recognition. Subjects learned novel, three-dimensional, rotating objects from image sequences in a continuous recognition task.

How interface geometry dictates water's thermodynamic signature in hydrophobic association

open access: yes, 2011
As a common view the hydrophobic association between molecular-scale binding partners is supposed to be dominantly driven by entropy. Recent calorimetric experiments and computer simulations heavily challenge this established paradigm by reporting that ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Signature Pattern Recognition using Kohonen Network

open access: yesKnowledge Engineering and Data Science, 2018
A signature is a special form of handwriting that used for human identification process. The current identification process is extremely ineffective. People have to manually compare signatures with the previously stored data.
