Selection of reference signatures for automatic signature verification
Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition. ICDAR '99 (Cat. No.PR00318), 1999This paper presents an effective procedure to select the reference specimens for a signature verification system. Specifically, from the analysis of local stability in handwritten signatures, a suitable measure is proposed to determine the capability of different sets of signatures in supporting effective verification.

Detection of Signatures of Selection Using F ST
2013Natural selection has molded the evolution of species across all taxa. Much more recently, on an evolutionary scale, human-oriented selection started to play an important role in shaping organisms, markedly so after the domestication of animals and plants. These selection processes have left traceable marks in the genome.

The molecular signature of selection underlying human adaptations
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 2006In the last decade, advances in human population genetics and comparative genomics have resulted in important contributions to our understanding of human genetic diversity and genetic adaptation. For the first time, we are able to reliably detect the signature of natural selection from patterns of DNA polymorphism.

Neural signatures of dynamic stimulus selection in Drosophila
Nature Neuroscience, 2017Many animals orient using visual cues, but how a single cue is selected from among many is poorly understood. Here we show that Drosophila ring neurons-central brain neurons implicated in navigation-display visual stimulus selection. Using in vivo two-color two-photon imaging with genetically encoded calcium indicators, we demonstrate that individual ...

Signatures of natural selection in the human genome
Nature Reviews Genetics, 2003During their dispersal from Africa, our ancestors were exposed to new environments and diseases. Those who were better adapted to local conditions passed on their genes, including those conferring these benefits, with greater frequency. This process of natural selection left signatures in our genome that can be used to identify genes that might ...

A selection of signatures, 1635–1642
1989In our assessment of paintings the signature has always played a very subordinate role; and where the material contained in the present volume is concerned, too, this approach will prove to be justified. Comparison of the inscriptions on these works shows time and again that the borderline between signatures that convince one as being autograph and ...

A selection of signatures, 1632–1634
1986In Rembrandt’s early years in Amsterdam, the signed works become more numerous than in Leiden. Just as for the Leiden period, a critical assessment of the Rembrandt signatures of the Amsterdam period is in fact beyond our competence. In those cases where we voice our opinion that a signature is reliable, this is scarcely more than an impression — one ...

Feature selection and indexing of online signatures
2012 12th International Conference on Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS), 2012In this paper, we propose a model for feature selection and indexing of online signatures based person identification. For representation of online signatures, a set of 100 global features of MCYT online signature database is considered. However, MCYT based features are high dimension features which significantly increases the response time and space ...
