This study reports a self‐powered broadband photodetector based on compositionally tuned p‐(CuS)x(ZnSe)1−x/p‐Si isotype heterojunctions. Increasing the CuS ratio improved the film crystallinity and produced a denser, more homogeneous nanopillar morphology, enhancing light absorption.

An advanced patterning method is presented for metal‐assisted chemical etching. The interlayer replaces the resist and enables catalyst deposition on a clean interface. The prepared samples show improved performance with a more reproducible etching profile, higher aspect ratio, and increased consistency over a larger area.

Nanowire Lithography on Silicon
Nano Letters, 2008Nanowire lithography (NWL) uses nanowires (NWs), grown and assembled by chemical methods, as etch masks to transfer their one-dimensional morphology to an underlying substrate. Here, we show that SiO2 NWs are a simple and compatible system to implement NWL on crystalline silicon and fabricate a wide range of architectures and devices.

Multicolored Vertical Silicon Nanowires
Nano Letters, 2011We demonstrate that vertical silicon nanowires take on a surprising variety of colors covering the entire visible spectrum, in marked contrast to the gray color of bulk silicon. This effect is readily observable by bright-field microscopy, or even to the naked eye.

Sawtooth Faceting in Silicon Nanowires
Physical Review Letters, 2005We observe in situ the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth of Si nanowires, in UHV-CVD using Au catalyst. The nanowire sidewalls exhibit periodic sawtooth faceting, reflecting an oscillatory growth process. We interpret the facet alternation as resulting from the interplay of the geometry and surface energies of the wire and liquid droplet.
