Diffusion Maps for Multimodal Registration

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Multimodal image registration is a difficult task, due to the significant intensity variations between the images. A common approach is to use sophisticated similarity measures, such as mutual information, that are robust to those intensity variations ...

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

Siamese Recurrent Architectures for Learning Sentence Similarity

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2016
We present a siamese adaptation of the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network for labeled data comprised of pairs of variable-length sequences. Our model is applied to assess semantic similarity between sentences, where we exceed state of the art ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Similarity Graph-Based Camera Tracking for Effective 3D Geometry Reconstruction with Mobile RGB-D Camera

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In this paper, we present a novel approach for reconstructing 3D geometry from a stream of images captured by a consumer-grade mobile RGB-D sensor. In contrast to previous real-time online approaches that process each incoming image in acquisition order,

Hydrodynamic dispersion in a self-similar geometry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1987
The authors investigate the dispersion of a dynamically neutral tracer flowing in a self-similar, hierarchical model of a porous medium. They consider a purely convective limit in which the time for tracer particles to traverse a given bond is strictly proportional to the inverse of the flux in the bond; the effect of molecular diffusion is neglected ...

Construction and generation of distance and similarity measures for intuitionistic fuzzy sets and various applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Systems, 2021
The distance measure between intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is a concept of very contemporary interest among the researchers in the field of decision‐makings, such as pattern recognition, medical diagnosis, and multiattribute decision‐making (MADM ...

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Geometry without topology as a new conception of geometry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2002
A geometric conception is a method of a geometry construction. The Riemannian geometric conception and a new T-geometric one are considered. T-geometry is built only on the basis of information included in the metric (distance between two points).
