Image Trilateral Filter Based on Local Structure Tensor [PDF]
The intensity similarity weight function adopted in bilateral filter is subjected to the influence of image noise. Moreover, this filter causes blindness in dealing with image details. To overcome the above drawbacks, this paper proposes a novel trilateral ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Log-Aesthetic Curves and Similarity Geometry
This paper delves into the recent advancements of log-aesthetic curves (LAC), a family of curves for industrial design. Recently it has been redefined in the context of similarity geometry, a branch of Klein geometry. Building upon the work of Miura and Gobithaasan [1], the paper explores LAC properties, delves into the connection with similarity ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Review article: methods of fractal geometry used in the study of complex geomorphic networks
Fractal geometry methods allow one to quantitatively describe self-similar or self-affined landscape shapes and facilitate the complex/holistic study of natural objects in various scales.

Self-similar groups and their geometry
This is an overview of results concerning applications of self-similar groups generated by automata to fractal geometry and dynamical systems. Few proofs are given, interested reader can find the rest of the proofs in the monograph [Nek05]. We associate to every contracting self-similar action a topological space JG called limit space together with a ...

The differential geometry of perceptual similarity
Human similarity judgments are inconsistent with Euclidean, Hamming, Mahalanobis, and the majority of measures used in the extensive literatures on similarity and dissimilarity. From intrinsic properties of brain circuitry, we derive principles of perceptual metrics, showing their conformance to Riemannian geometry. As a demonstration of their utility,

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
