The apo LETM1 F‐EF‐hand adopts a closed conformation that underlies a multi‐modal sensory role in mitochondria

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present the first solution structure of the Ca2+‐depleted LETM1 F‐EF‐hand through a D676A/N678A Ca2+ binding‐deficient mutant, revealing a closed hydrophobic cleft caused by a unique F1‐helix pivot. The apo LETM1 F‐EF‐hand exhibits regiospecific hot and cold unfolding, sensitivity to physiological pH changes and potential for promiscuous heterotypic

Longitudinal predictors of weapon involvement in middle adolescence: Evidence from the UK Millennium Cohort Study

open access: yesAggressive Behavior, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 5-14, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This study uses longitudinal data from the UK Millennium Cohort Study (N = 13,277) to examine the childhood and early adolescence factors that predict weapon involvement in middle adolescence, which in this study is exemplified by having carried or used a weapon.

On the Diameter of a Cayley Graph of a Simple Group of Lie Type Based on a Conjugacy Class

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, 1998
Let G be a finite simple group, and let C be a non-identity conjugacy class of G. Write X(G, C ) for the undirected Cayley graph of G based on the generating set C _ C; thus the vertices of X(G, C ) are the elements of G, and two vertices x, y are joined

On Multicommutators for Simple Algebraic Groups

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2001
AbstractThere are several examples of groups for which any pair of commutators can be written such that both of them have a common entry, and one can look for a similar property for n-tuples of commutators. Here we answer, for simple algebraic groups over any field, the weaker question, under which condition the set of n-tuples of commutators with one ...

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...

Semi‐supervised classification of fundus images combined with CNN and GCN

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, which is a kind of fundus lesion with specific changes. Early diagnosis of DR can effectively reduce the visual damage caused by DR. Due to the variety and different morphology of DR lesions, automatic classification of fundus images in mass screening can ...

Five embeddings of one simple group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a new method to study birational maps between Fano varieties based on multiplier ideal sheaves. Using this method, we prove equivariant birational rigidity of four Fano threefolds acted on by the group A6. As an application, we obtain that Bir(

Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Feasibility of radical cardiac‐sparing, treatment planning strategies for patients with locally advanced, non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose A set of treatment planning strategies were designed and retrospectively implemented for locally advanced, non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in order to minimize cardiac dose without compromising target coverage goals. Methods Retrospective analysis was performed for 20 NSCLC patients prescribed to 60–66 Gy that received a ...

On the representation of simple riesz groups [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Algebra, 1998
In this paper we answer Open Problem 2 of Goodearl's book on partially ordered abelian groups in the case of partially ordered sim- ple groups. As a consequence, we obtain a version of the Theorem of structure of dimension groups in the case of simple Riesz groups.
