Methods of Multi-Criteria Optimization of Technological Processes in a Fuzzy Environment Based on the Simplex Method and the Theory of Fuzzy Sets

open access: yesMathematics
Many modern technological objects in practice are characterized by the uncertainty of the initial information necessary for their management. Recently, one of the pressing scientific and practical problems is the development of new optimization methods ...

Eagle's Syndrome Presenting With Peripheral Facial Palsy—A Case Report

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Eagle's syndrome is a condition caused by an elongated styloid process and is characterized by various symptoms such as cervicofacial pain, foreign body sensation, headache, odynophagia, and otalgia. However, the occurrence of a unilateral peripheral facial palsy as a symptom of Eagle's syndrome has been described only rarely ...

Model for diameter distribution from assortments volumes: theoretical formulation and a case application with a sample of timber trade data for clear-cut sections

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2019
This study examined a theoretical model for stand structures from the volumes of pulpwood and saw logs of clear-cut stands. The average stem size was used to estimate the number of cut trees.

Burden and Correlates of Multiple Chronic Infections and Their Associations With Cancer Incidence in Chinese Adults: A Large Case‐Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
While several oncogenic pathogens cause site‐specific cancers, uncertainties remain about many other chronic infections and combined pathogen effects, especially in non‐Western populations. Using a large case–cohort study nested within the China Kadoorie Biobank, the authors found that co‐infection was common, with a mean of 10 pathogens per individual.

Shared genetic and molecular architecture between neurodevelopmental disorders and type 1 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Epidemiological and clinical studies have suggested possible associations between type 1 diabetes (T1D) and neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), but these relationships remain inconsistent across disorders and populations. To clarify whether such mixed findings, we investigated the genetic architecture linking T1D with autism spectrum disorder

The double pivot simplex method

open access: yes, 2017
The simplex method, created by George Dantzig, optimally solves a linear program by pivoting. Dantzig’s pivots move from a basic feasible solution to a different basic feasible solution by exchanging exactly one basic variable with a nonbasic variable ...

A Nonlinear Quantitative Model for Measuring Concentration Ratios From Raman Intensities

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Estimating concentration from Raman intensity ratios is complicated by cross‐contributions from overlapping peaks, causing measured ratios to deviate from the linear behavior assumed in conventional quantitative models. This nonlinear method fully accounts for cross‐contributions, allowing estimation of concentration over several orders of magnitude ...

The Dynamic Simplex-Method

open access: yes, 1977
In this paper a finite-step method for solving dynamic linear programming (DLP) problems is described. The method suggested is a natural and straightforward extension of one of the most effective static LP methods -- the simplex method -- for DLP.

Microbial communities and functional diversity in seafood

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Functional diversity encompasses ecosystem processes that enhance adaptability to environmental change. This study explores the diversity of microorganisms associated with seafood. In this paper, we present our knowledge of microbial diversity in relation to seafood.
