Background Major obstetric hemorrhage is the leading direct cause of maternal mortality throughout the world. To prevent maternal mortality, it is crucial to raise concerns regarding the knowledge and skill levels of the healthcare providers. The purpose

The chiral Hall effect in canted ferromagnets and antiferromagnets
The Hall effect is about the generation of a transverse voltage when a longitudinal current is applied and many mechanisms can lead to Hall effect in magnetic material. Here, the authors report a chiral Hall effect that is proportional to the vector spin

An Algorithm for Probabilistic Alternating Simulation [PDF]
In probabilistic game structures, probabilistic alternating simulation (PA-simulation) relations preserve formulas defined in probabilistic alternating-time temporal logic with respect to the behaviour of a subset of players. We propose a partition based

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Interval simulation: raising the level of abstraction in architectural simulation [PDF]
Detailed architectural simulators suffer from a long development cycle and extremely long evaluation times. This longstanding problem is further exacerbated in the multi-core processor era.

Robotic Simulations, Simulations of Robots
Simulation studies have been carried out in robotics for a variety of epistemic and practical purposes. Here it is argued that two broad classes of simulation studies can be identified in robotics research. The first one is exemplified by the use of robotic systems to acquire knowledge on living systems in so-called biorobotics, while the second class ...

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

The Repast Simulation/Modelling System for Geospatial Simulation [PDF]
The use of simulation/modelling systems can simplify the implementation of agent-based models. Repast is one of the few simulation/modelling software systems that supports the integration of geospatial data especially that of vector-based geometries ...
