Pseudo-rotations of the open annulus

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, we study pseudo-rotations of the open annulus, \emph{i.e.} conservative homeomorphisms of the open annulus whose rotation set is reduced to a single irrational number (the angle of the pseudo-rotation).

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Structural design and vibration characteristics of a contra-rotating drilling tool based on planetary gear trains

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
IntroductionTo reduce severe drill string vibration and improve drilling efficiency in deep drilling, which are often accompanied by significant energy loss.MethodThe contra- rotation of the inner and outer drill bits was facilitated by planetary gear ...

On the Tree-Cutting Problem under Interest Rate and Forest Value Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
The current literature on optimal forest rotation makes the unrealistic assumption of constant interest rate though harvesting decisions of forest stands are typically subject to long time horizons.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Research on the selection of rotation stopping block’s arrangement for single-type low-floor tram

open access: yes机车电传动, 2022
Single-type low-floor trams have been widely used in the construction of urban light rail transit in recent years. As a common component of low-floor trams, the rotation stopping block can limit the relative swing angle range between the car body and the

A Binomial Tree Approach to Valuing Fixed Rotation Forests and Flexible Rotation Forests Under a Mean Reverting Timber Price Process [PDF]

open access: yes
NPV and LEV are established and common approaches to valuing single rotation and infinite rotation forests respectively, when the rotation age is fixed in advanced.

ROTATIONAL LORDOSIS: THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SINGLE CURVE [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1952
This paper is a theoretical and experimental study of the processes involved in the development of curvature of the spine which we have come to call scoliosis. Reasons are advanced why the term scoliosis in its modern meaning may be misleading and an alternative title of Rotational Lordosis is suggested.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

First Metatarsal Pronation, Distal metatarsal articular angle and sesamoid reduction after Modified scarf osteotomy with single screw fixation

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2018
Category: Bunion Introduction/Purpose: Scarf osteotomy is a very popular procedure to hallux valgus surgical correction. No literature reported the correction of rotation of first metatarsal after a Scarf osteotomy.
