Evolution of progenitor stars of Type Ibc supernovae and long gamma-ray bursts

open access: yes, 2008
We discuss how rotation and binary interactions may be related to the diversity of type Ibc supernovae and long gamma-ray bursts. After presenting recent evolutionary models of massive single and binary stars including rotation, the Tayler-Spruit dynamo ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Stress fiber contraction induces cell body rotation in single keratocytes

open access: yesBiophysics and Physicobiology
Single epidermal keratocytes, which are responsible for wound repair in fish, migrate while maintaining their characteristic shape: a frontal crescent-shaped lamellipodium and a posterior rugby-ball-shaped cell body.

CONTACT AND ROTATION ANALYSIS OF SINGLE ROLLER ENVELOPING FACE WORM DRIVE

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2021
Based on the meshing theory of single roller enveloping end face worm drive, the distribution of contact line and the length of contact line on the cylindrical surface of the drive pair, and the self-rotation angle of the roller, and the self-rotation angle

Supernovae from rotating stars

open access: yes, 2017
The present paper discusses the main physical effects produced by stellar rotation on presupernovae, as well as observations which confirm these effects and their consequences for presupernova models.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Operational performance research of layered rotary tillage and ridging machine on for the sticky soil using DEM

open access: yesScientific Reports
To address the challenges of low soil fragmentation rates and high tillage resistance during land preparation for the sticky soil in southwest China, a double-shaft layered rotary tillage and ridging machine was designed to enhance the soil layer ...
