Quantum optical realization of arbitrary linear transformations allowing for loss and gain
Unitary transformations are routinely modeled and implemented in the field of quantum optics. In contrast, nonunitary transformations that can involve loss and gain require a different approach.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Generation of Propagation-Dependent OAM Self-Torque with Chirped Spiral Gratings
The application of non-uniform spiral gratings to control the structure, topological parameters and propagation of orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams was studied experimentally with coherent near-infrared light.

Instantaneous field singularities in electromagnetic waves
Singularities, i.e. places of discontinuity of physical parameters are extremely general objects appearing in both stationary and wave processes. They commonly occur in purely coherent, highly directional electromagnetic waves, such as laser beams ...

Nanoscale control over optical singularities
Optical singularities have attracted much interest in the past decades, enabling advancements in nano-manipulation, bio-sensing, and quantum optics, owing to their ability to carry and transfer angular momentum on the nano scale. Optical vortices (OVs), in this respect, are phase singularities useful for many applications, such as particle trapping and

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.
