Finger image quality based on singular point localization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Singular points are important global features of fingerprints and singular point localization is a crucial step in biometric recognition. Moreover the presence and position of the core point in a captured fingerprint sample can reflect whether the finger

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Eigenfunction expansion for singular Sturm-Liouville problems with transmission conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2018
In this work, we show the existence of a spectral function for a singular Sturm-Liouville problem with transmission condition. Also we establish a Parseval equality and expansion formula in eigenfunctions in terms of the spectral function.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Least Squares Estimation of PSI Networks for Large Scenes with Multithreaded Singular Value Decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the Persistent Scatterer Interferometry relative height and deformation updates are estimated between nearby persistent scatterers (PSs). In practice, a reference network is established and the absolute values are estimated by integration.

Stress State at the Vertex of a Composite Wedge, One Side of Which Slides Without Friction Along a Rigid Surface

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
For studying the stress-strain state at singular points and their neighborhoods new concept is proposed. A singular point is identified with an elementary volume that has a characteristic size of the real body representative volume.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

First order over determined system with singular point [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper deals with the linear first order system of hyperbolic type with a singular point. The authors have obtained many new integral representations for the solution.

On bifurcations of a periodic orbit tangent to switching lines at two points

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Физико-математические науки
Background. Dynamic systems defined by discontinuous piecewise smooth vector fields on a plane are natural mathematical models of relay systems in automatic control theory. Periodic trajectories describe self-oscillations.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
