Influence of cardiac tissue anisotropy on re-entrant activation in computational models of ventricular fibrillation

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of this study was to establish the role played by anisotropic diffusion in (i) the number of filaments and epicardial phase singularities that sustain ventricular fibrillation in the heart, (ii) the lifetimes of filaments and phase singularities,

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Singularities of Type-Q ABS Equations

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2011
The type-Q equations lie on the top level of the hierarchy introduced by Adler, Bobenko and Suris (ABS) in their classification of discrete counterparts of KdV-type integrable partial differential equations.

Deforming nonnormal isolated surface singularities and constructing 3-folds with $\mathbb{P}^1$ as exceptional set

open access: yes, 2015
Normally one assumes isolated surface singularities to be normal. The purpose of this paper is to show that it can be useful to look at nonnormal singularities.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Three-Dimensional Scattering From Uniaxial Objects With a Smooth Boundary Using a Multiple Infinitesimal Dipole Method

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The formulations for three-dimensional (3D) scattering from uniaxial objects with a smooth boundary using a multiple infinitesimal dipole method (MIDM) are introduced.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Singularities of multiplicative spherical Darboux image and multiplicative rectifying developable surface

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
In this study, singularity theory is used to explore the geometrical and topological properties of three types of curves and surfaces in multiplicative Euclidean space.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

On Asymptotic Series for Generalized Airy, Circular, and Hyperbolic Functions

open access: yesMathematics
The paper concerns the solution of the ordinary differential equation y″±xmy=0, which may be designated the generalized Airy equation, since the original Airy equation corresponds to the particular case m=1 with the + sign.
